Don’t forget to add any of these great books to your beach tote this summer! I’m a complete book worm and LOVE finding a new good read so please share with me if you find something you love too!!! Check out the ultimate summer reading list for 2018, I’ll continue to add on to this list throughout the summer.
A Tribe Called Bliss is not the kind of book I usually read, self help/personal development books are not the type of genre I typically look for. However, after reading a lot of rave reviews about this one I decided to check it out and I’m very glad I did! I really enjoyed reading Lori Harder’s incredible personal journey of how she learned to love herself first in order to have stronger relationships with others. Harder encourages readers to follow their bliss to live their best life and I really embraced the positive messages in this book and love how she incorporates uplifting quotes throughout the novel as well.
If you are looking for something positive and encouraging to read this summer definitely check this one out!
The Woman In The Window gave me the chills!!! It’s really good, reminded me at first of the The Girl On The Train because the main character, Anna Fox seems to be a hot mess who drinks too much and mixes her medications so you aren’t sure if you can trust her. Anna is also a former psychologist who has been diagnosed with Agoraphobia and never leaves her New York home that she used to share with her estranged husband and daughter. Anna fills her days with watching her neighbors through the lens of her camera and talking to other patients with Agoraphobia online. One day she sees something out her window that changes her life forever.
This book is filled with mystery and lots of suspense all the way until the last page and there is a huge twist towards the end that you will not see coming!
I wanted something light and easy after reading The Woman In The Window and When Life Gives You Lululemons was perfect! I finished the whole book in less than three days because I just could not put it down! It’s a sequel to The Devil Wears Prada and is about Emily’s life post working in runway for Miranda Priestly. Emily now works as a public relations agent for celebrities but when her list of celebrity clientele begins to dwindle she takes on the exciting case of a client who is married to a very shady politician.
When Life Gives You Lululemons is a really funny light read about the trials and tribulations of surviving suburbia, motherhood, and marriage.
The Great Alone is the only book on this list I haven’t read yet and I cannot wait to get started on this one! It has rave reviews everywhere!!! If you’ve already read this one please let me know what you thought of it by commenting below!
Orphan Train takes place in the late 1920’s right around the time of the Great Depression. It’s a fictional story that follows a young Irish girl’s journey to the Midwest on a train for orphans with hopes of finding a new family after she loses her own in a house fire. At first I wasn’t sure if I could get through this book because it’s just so sad to know that although the story is based on a fictional character these types of living situations for orphans are unfortunately a very real part of our country’s history. The book goes back and forth between two parallel stories, one about a young Irish girl named “Niamh” who finds herself moving from one troubled living situation to the next and the present day story of a girl named Molly who is currently in foster care and doing some community service hours for an elderly woman.
This suspenseful book is definitely worth the read! It keeps you wondering what will happen next in the lives of these two troubled characters.
The Girl Before is about a young couple who moves into a unique apartment with a strangely rigorous selection process for it’s tenants. After they move in they start to realize more and more unsettling facts about the history of the building and about the strange architect who built it, who is also their land lord.
I read this one a few months back & it was really good, mysteries & suspense are my absolute favorites! Apparently it’s also being made into a movie!
I just finished reading Still Me and it really sucked me in. It’s about a woman who temporarily moves to New York City from England for a fresh start and what sounds like an amazing new job opportunity. The only problem is her boyfriend is back in England and the two really struggle to make their long distance relationship work. She then finds herself getting mixed in with New York’s elite social circles and entering into a world she never knew existed. She eventually has to decide who she really is and what she wants out of life.
It’s a good soul searching, romantic novel and it’s also extremely funny! This book is part of a trilogy by Jojo Mojes, Me Before You and After You are the other two books in this series but you definitely do not need to of read the first two to appreciate this one.
The Last Mrs. Parrish is a page-turner!!! It’s a suspenseful thriller told from two different women’s perspectives, one woman seems to have it all and the other woman wants to take it all from her. This book definitely keeps you guessing until the very end! I couldn’t put it down!
If you aren’t following the Reesesbookclubxhellosunshine on Instagram, DO IT! There are so many good ones on there!
OK this one is CREEPY! LOL There is just no other way to describe it. I loved it though, read the whole thing in less than 3 days because I just had to know what was going to happen. Behind Closed Doors is about a woman named Grace who seems to have a perfect house, a loving husband, and she seems to be an amazing homemaker but what lies behind the closed doors in her home is a completely different story!
Seriously, be prepared to stay up super late reading this one!
Since I have identical twin girls I obviously had to give The Identicals a shot and I’m really glad I did because I loved it! It’s about the very different lives of identical twins, Tabitha & Harper who live on separate islands only a few miles apart, one in Nantucket and the other on Martha’s Vineyard. The girls haven’t spoken to each other in over a decade until some unforeseen circumstances start unraveling within their family and the girls are forced to reunite to try to put all the pieces back together.
It’s a great story about romance, love, family and of course sisterhood.
As mentioned I am always looking for a great book and would love to add to this list! Please share your favorite summer reads with me by commenting below! Or by visiting http://makingmemorieswithmyminis.com/contact/

July 8, 2018 at 1:47 amWell my Goodreads list just got longer! I’m curious about Behind Closed Doors. When you say creepy… will I be scared at night? I’m a pretty big baby when it comes to things like that! I like intriguing and suspenseful… but definitely not outright scary/horror/gory. Thoughts?
MereKopal
July 8, 2018 at 10:38 amI LOVE Goodreads!!! With Behind Closed Doors I don’t think you’ll be scared at night more just staying up late because you’ll want to know what happens next. That was me anyway – I couldn’t put it down because I had to know how the main character, Grace was going to get out of all these crazy situations. It was both intriguing and suspenseful but definitely not super gory! Only one scene in the book is a little gory, I don’t do well with that either. I say go for it, I really enjoyed it and gave it 5 stars on Goodreads 🙂
